Anthony Joshua Wembley Stadium Fight Deal

AJ’s next two fights to take place at Wembley Stadium on September 22nd 2018 & April 13th 2019

WBA, IBF and WBO Heavyweight World Champion will be Boxing in London under promoter Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) in his next bouts.

Big Events and Huge Tickets numbers are what the 28-year-old champ are all about, who on his return to the national stadium has fought twice at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium since 2017.

Confirmation: Anthony Joshua OBE defends his WBA Super, WBO, IBF and IBO Heavyweight World Titles against Mandatory WBA challenger Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium on September 22, fight night live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Social Media reaction :

@MatchroomBoxing tweets: ?”The opportunity to fight in such an iconic stadium is normally a once in career opportunity, so to be given the chance to fight there again is amazing. Wembley just added a fourth lion to the den” – @anthonyfjoshua ?

@EddieHearn tweets: AJ’s coming home! Delighted to announce @anthonyfjoshua next two fights will be at the National Stadium @wembleystadium September 22 and April 13 – September show announcement next week ????

It looks like ‘Fast Car Eddie’ & London mayor Sadiq Khan are working closely together to set more records in the London Capital – as for the fans – get those tickets!

Capacity for @anthonyfjoshua next fight on September 22 will be at 90,000 – we are expecting the April 13 capacity to be extended to over 100,000 #AJscominghome

AJ is getting seriously hot property now and is growing out of the smaller (yet still huge) venues whilst boxing is growing at a remarkable rate. Massive stadium shows are the norm now!

It is an unbelievable time to be in boxing. As a heavyweight like Dillian Whyte he will get his chance to fight for a world title as he is always ready.

For the fighters in other divisions, they get the opportunity to fight on the stadium undercards and now fill the arenas left behind by AJ.

So, Will Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder Fight? When will the boxing night be?

Promoter Hearn has played a very good move here. Yes, AJ will have the ultimate test against Alexander Povetkin. Will be a great night with stacked fights on the bill.

After that Eddie has set his trap. He has the monopoly of the TV Networks. More money to spend than what is imaginable in boxing for his shows. The biggest venue to lure the american from across the pond – and… a fight date.

I think you can guess when this fight is going to take place.

The build up has already started, well it’s been going on for months now and is going to build and build till the hype is enough to fill wembley 5-times over……just enjoy the ride.

Wembley Stadium Boxing….Sounds good!
